The Clinical Psychiatric Research Center at the George Washington
University Medical Center is currently recruiting adults over age
18 and in general good health to participate in mood and anxiety
disorder studies. All participants will be seen by specialized physicians
who will aid in the evaluation of their condition. All study medications
have gone through extensive safety testing before GWU offers it
to volunteers. More information can be obtained by calling 202-994-CARE
(2273). The George Washington University, an accredited research
institution, is located one block from the Foggy Bottom Metro stop
on the Orange and Blue Lines.

WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER YOU, THE VOLUNTEER:
A complete evaluation will be done at the beginning and end of
the study, with weekly or biweekly monitoring by a psychiatrist
throughout. All study-related assessments and medication are provided
at no cost. The study medications are investigational, yet have
been safely tested on other human volunteers, before they are available
at our center. Some study medications have been FDA-approved for
some illnesses but not for the specific disorder under study. All
patients are eligible to participate in our free after-care program
for up to three months following their participation in the study.
The doctors will prescribe an FDA-approved and marketed medication,
while they help you find follow-up care in the community.
There is no cost to participate in any of our studies. There is
also no compensation for participation in the study. There is no
charge for your visits with the psychiatrist, for your physical
exam, and for any of the medication that you may receive.
Psychotherapy is not provided as part of these research studies;
they are only medication clinical trials. Depending on the study,
participation in psychotherapy while you are involved in the study
may not be allowed, or could be allowed under the conditions outlined
in the protocol.
